Introduction
I’ll be honest, I didn’t know much about Korean food before visiting Nasung Donkasu, but after one meal, I completely understood why this place has such a loyal following.
Located in Aliso Viejo, Nasung Donkasu specializes in Korean comfort food with generous portions, fresh ingredients, and dishes that are almost too pretty to eat. Whether you’re already a fan of Korean cuisine or you’re looking to try something new, this is the kind of restaurant that leaves you planning your next visit before you’ve even paid the check.
The Atmosphere
One of the first things I noticed walking in was how relaxed and welcoming the restaurant felt. It wasn’t overly fancy or intimidating just clean, comfortable, and somewhere you could easily enjoy lunch with friends, a casual date, or dinner with family.
The service made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, we a nice greeting and being led to our seats, and our food came out beautifully presented.

Bulgogi

Talk about sizzling.
The bulgogi arrived on a hot cast iron plate still bubbling, filling the table with the smell of marinated beef, onions, and garlic. The beef was incredibly tender, perfectly seasoned, and paired so well with the steamed rice and fresh lettuce wraps.
If you’re someone who loves interactive meals, wrapping the beef in crisp lettuce with a little ssamjang made every bite even better.
Donkasu

The restaurant’s namesake absolutely lived up to the hype.
The pork cutlet was golden brown, crispy on the outside, and still incredibly juicy inside. It came with rice, shredded cabbage salad, pickled vegetables, and even fried shrimp, making it feel more like a complete feast than a single entrée.
The rich donkasu sauce tied everything together perfectly.
Tteokbokki
If you’re looking for something with a little heat, the Tteokbokki is a must-try.
Served bubbling hot, this classic Korean street food featured chewy rice cakes in a rich, spicy gochujang-based sauce that was packed with flavor. Ours was topped with a perfectly cooked soft-boiled egg and a crispy fried shrimp, adding both texture and making the presentation even more fun.
The rice cakes had the perfect chewy consistency, and the sauce struck a great balance between spicy, savory, and slightly sweet without being overpowering. It was one of those dishes that kept me going back for “just one more bite.”
If you’ve never tried tteokbokki before, Nasung Donkasu is a great place to start. And if you’re already a fan, this version definitely won’t disappoint.
Final Thoughts
