Hey Everyone!! Welcome back to another blog in my anniversary month series! If you didnt know, me and my boyfriend will be celebrating our 3 year anniversary this month and to celebrate, I wanted each blog this month to be relationship themed so here we go!
Let’s be honest, dating in your 20s while trying to build a life, pay bills, and chase your dreams can feel… expensive. But being a “Big Girl” in love means finding joy in the simple, creative, and budget-friendly moments too. You don’t need to spend a ton to make memories that feel rich.
Here are some of my favorite date night ideas that me and my boyfriend, Darius, have done (and a few I’m manifesting for the future!).
1. College Football Game Vibes
The energy, the crowd, the snacks, it’s all top-tier. You don’t even have to be a big sports fan; just go for the experience. Grab some food, wear your school colors, and get loud together. Bonus points if your team wins.
2. Sip & Paint (DIY Edition)

You can go to a class or set it up at home we have done both! Wine or Sparkling Cider, canvases, and a playlist or Bob Ross video. It’s cute, relaxing, and a fun way to see who’s secretly an artist and who’s… not.

3. The “Pick Each Other’s Outfit” Challenge
This one’s hilarious. Go to a store, set a timer (like 15 minutes), and pick out an outfit for each other. Then, you both try them on. The twist? You don’t have to buy it. Just have fun, take pics, and maybe get some fashion inspiration for later.
4. Picnic & People Watching
Classic. Grab a blanket, some snacks, and a speaker. Go to a park or beach, talk about everything and nothing, and just be. I swear something about eating outside with your person hits different.
5. Record Store Roulette

Walk into a record store and pick an album solely based on the cover. Then, listen to both picks and vote whose choice wins. It’s lowkey the best way to learn each other’s taste and spark good convos.
6. Pop-Up Event Adventures

If you live near a big city, check out brand pop-ups, art installations, or new coffee shops. They’re usually free or super cheap, and make for great photos (you know I’m thinking content!).
7. Cook Together Night

Pick a recipe you’ve never tried before, grab the groceries, and make it together. It’s chaos, but in the best way. Plus, you’ll both laugh through the mistakes and end up with a new memory (and maybe a new favorite dish). Here is one we tried!
8. Dream Building Date
Get dressed up, go on Zillow, and “tour” your dream homes online or in person. Talk about what your future might look like. It’s free, but it makes you feel like a million bucks.
Final Thoughts
You don’t need a fancy reservation or a five-star budget to build love that lasts. You just need intention, effort, and a sense of humor. Love is about the moments that feel full, not the wallets that are.
Trust me, Me and Darius are huge travelers. We love to see the world and experience different cultures so we know what it feels like to spend the big bucks but some of my best memories with Darius came from these moments. Don’t let money stop that!
So the next time you’re trying to plan something special without breaking the bank, remember: it’s not about the cost, it’s about the connection.
