In the spirit of my 3 year anniversary coming next month, I had to touch on SUCH an important topic. One thing about me? I will take myself out. Sometimes the most healing thing you can do is take yourself on a date and remember that your own company is premium.
Being a big girl means learning how to pour into yourself, not just everybody else. When life gets loud, friendships get weird, jobs get draining, or you just feel off a solo date can reset your whole spirit.
Here are some of my favorite ways to refill my cup when I need to reconnect with me:
Courtside to Self-Care
Okay, maybe not literally courtside (one day though) but going to a professional basketball game by myself? Top-tier.
It’s fun, it’s energetic, and honestly it reminds me life is meant to be enjoyed loudly.
🌊 Beach + Journal + Sun = Therapy

Leave me at the beach with my journal, a towel, and a big bottle of water and I am a new woman. I’ll swim, people-watch, talk to God, think about my future, and write whatever He puts on my heart.
The waves really are healing.
Sun on skin, toes in sand, thoughts untangling… 10/10 recommend.
Take Yourself Out to Eat
A table for one? Yes ma’am. The hostess will survive.
Going out to eat alone is such a grown woman flex. Bring your iPad, your journal, or just sit and be cute while you enjoy your food. Order the dessert if you want it.
Soft Girl Shopping Trip
Sometimes I soak up the mall energy, try on cute outfits, buy one little treat (rewarding myself is a love language) and then grab a matcha or iced coffee on the way home.
Shopping solo is peaceful because nobody is rushing you. You can roam, and take your time.
Bookstore + Café Reset
Find a cozy chair, get a latte, and flip through a new book or magazine. It’s giving “main character in her thoughtful era.” Even if you don’t read much just being in that quiet space helps.
Solo Movie Night
Sneaking your snacks into the theater >
Watching what you want without debate >>
Leaving emotionally refreshed or dramatically overthinking a plot >>>>>
Spa Day (Home or Outside)

Luxury is in the details bath, candle, exfoliate, deep condition, shave, lotion routine, body oil, silk robe, gospel or R&B playing.
Even a $10 face mask hits differently when you slow down.
Prayer Walk

Sometimes my solo date is with God. I will go on a prayer walk and talk to Him about everything on my heart.
Refilling your cup spiritually hits deeper than anything else.
Final Thought
Solo dating isn’t about isolating it’s about honoring your own presence. I love being loved by others, but I never want to forget how to love myself too.
The more you spend time with you, the more grounded you feel and the easier it becomes to know what you want and won’t settle for.
So this week, pick a day. Get dressed. Take yourself out. Romanticize your life.
Because being a Big Girl means knowing you don’t wait for special moments
you create them.
