Hola everyone!
Let’s talk about the real tea because working a 9–5 while trying to build your dream life?! It’s not for the weak.
Right now, I’m clocking in every day as an senior admissions counselor, and while I’m grateful for my job, there are definitely days where I’m like, Is this really my life? I’ve got travel aspirations stacked a mile high. I’m dreaming of running Big Girl Time my blog, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram as my full-time career. But for now? I’m still in my office, answering emails, planning events, and making my coffee way too sweet.

Here’s why I’m still clocked in:
The Bills Don’t Care About My Creative Dreams
Let’s just be honest—life is expensive. I’ve got a car payment (shout out to my Jeep Compass for getting me everywhere, but also… dang she expensive). I’ve got student loans. I’ve got rent to pay because your girl needs a cute apartment with big windows, a nice community, and in-unit laundry.

Plus, I love to travel. And traveling, especially how I want to do it, costs money. Aruba trips, cute outfits, excursions, all that good stuff—that’s not free. So for now, my 9–5 pays for my life while I’m building the dream life I want.
Slow and Steady Builds the Empire
I’ll be real: sometimes I feel like I’m moving too slow. I see other creators going full-time and I’m like, What am I doing wrong? But I’ve learned that slow and steady really does win the race.
Working my 9–5 lets me invest in my blog, my camera equipment, my travel content, and my future. I’m building this so one day, I won’t have to split my energy. But for now, my steady paycheck keeps me stable while I take big-girl steps toward my bigger goals.
The Dream is Bigger Than Me
Big Girl Time isn’t just about me posting cute pics and travel vlogs. It’s about creating a space where women like me, Black women, young professionals, big dreamers, feel seen. It’s about showing that you can want more, even if life right now looks like spreadsheets, staff meetings, and meal prepping.
My dream is to take this platform full-time. To travel the world, share my experiences, and build a life I’m proud of. But I want to do it smart. No burning out. No going broke to look successful on Instagram.
So Why Am I Still Clocked In?
Because I’m playing the long game.
Because I’ve got bills.
Because I’m building my empire one day at a time.
And because even though I sometimes feel stuck, I know my 9–5 is funding my freedom.
So if you’re working your day job and dreaming of something bigger? You’re not alone. Keep showing up. Keep working on your side hustle. Keep your vision clear. And keep living your Big Girl Life right where you are.
TTYL, friends. Now let me go check my email before my boss comes looking for me. 😉
